PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE - Gilles Plains
Dear parents and friends,
Welcome to the final newsletter of the 2022.
It was a wonderful finish of the year with our end of year ceremonies and graduation nights. The halls were full of happiness and joy that made us all proud.
With this last newsletter for the school year, I reflect with great pride on the many achievements made during the year. 2022 has been a brilliant year at Pinnacle College - a year of true hope, rich learning and happiness.
The students are our greatest source of achievement and watching each of them learn and grow this year has been the greatest pleasure of my role. As a community, we have had some terrific achievements this year, which have all contributed to each child’s flourishing.
In this newsletter I take the opportunity to thank and congratulate all those who’ve made it a great year.
I would like to thank all parents for their continued support of our school by respecting our school values, showing interest in your child’s learning and supporting our teachers. A very special and heartfelt gratitude goes to The Parents and Friends Committees of both Gilles Plains and Golden Grove campuses, who have had another successful year with their support at school events and fundraisers.
I would like to also thank our exceptional staff who always go above and beyond their duty. Their dedication, hard work and care for the students have taken Pinnacle College to the next level.
Sadly, upon their leaving, I would like to say thank you to Shalini Moss, Victoria Mackowiak, Sandra Holland and Molly Scott, for their contribution to the school. We wish them all the best in the future. I also thank Alpaslan and Gulsum Altunkopru, for their efforts at Pinnacle College and wish them all the best in their new roles in Perth, WA.
Finally. thank you to all students for another successful year. I am so honoured to be your principal and look forward to seeing you all next year.
I wish you all a great holiday season and may Allah give blessings to you and your family for the year ahead.
Thank you.
Kind Regards,
Mr Atilla Sinik
Campus Principal
PRIMARY COORDINATOR
Dear students, Parents and Caregivers,
As we come to the end of another successful year of learning and achievement, celebrating our students' achievements, I want you to know that I am proud of each and every one of them.
It is important to remember that we want to help our students to be the best that they can be. It is critical to continue learning and developing individual talents while learning to interact with others, problem solve, be self-motivated, and inquisitive.
It has been a pleasure to serve as a Primary Coordinator at Gilles Plains this year and to collaborate with you to ensure that our children have a positive school experience.
Finally, I'd like to wish everyone a great holiday and hope that you have some wonderful family time together.
Kind Regards,
Mr Ola Abdelmonem
JUNIOR PRIMARY CURRICULUM COORDINATORS
Dear Parents and Friends,
We have made it for another year! COVID, flu, gastro, all the sickness that have been thrown upon us this year, we have conquered and become stronger! We are ready for anything that 2023 brings. Over the holidays, I encourage you to take your children and enjoy what Adelaide has to offer! Go to the beach, experience a Moonlight Cinema movie, watch a show at the Adelaide Festival Centre, hike around Morialta Falls, play Mini Golf at West Beach or ride the Ferris Wheel at Glenelg. The students work so hard during the term, so I think it is nice to allow them a break and to build upon life experiences that we can’t provide at school. These can also be activities at home - cook a meal, bake a cake, make their bed, fold their clothes. These life skills provide positive advantages to students, including independence, inferential thinking and being able to connect to the real-world. Please continue to read over the holidays, books are free to borrow at council libraries! If your child struggles to read, read to them!
Kind Regards,
Chloe Rees
UPPER PRIMARY CURRICULUM COORDINATOR
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
As we hurtle towards the end of the 2022 academic year, our calendars are filled with the transition visits, Year 6 Graduation and End of the Year Concerts. We recognise the students who have done exceptionally well in their learning and those who have put in the effort to make small but meaningful steps forward. I want to congratulate our award winners and the many talented students that we have.
As 2022 draws to a close, my time in Pinnacle College also comes to an end. I will pass on the reigns to Ms Sarah Watkins who will take over as Upper Primary Curriculum Coordinator and Mrs Kerry Sangermano, who will take on the role of Inclusive Education Coordinator.
I am grateful for the many opportunities I have been given in my 11 years at Pinnacle College. I wish you a safe holiday and Happy New Year.
Kind Regards,
Shalini Moss
SCHOOL EVENTS & SRC
It is hard to believe but the 2022 school year is coming to an end. There have been so many wonderful events this year and it has been a pleasure to work alongside such very dedicated teachers and students to ensure these events run smoothly and are a positive experience for all.
Obviously, the highlight of the year was the End of Year Awards Ceremony and Concert event and although the Year 6 cohort did not participate, they will have their time to shine at their graduation evening. Thank you students and staff for making this one of the events I will remember forever.
It has been an absolute pleasure to be the Events and SRC Coordinator at Gilles Plains and I would like to thank you all for your support over the last two years. Have a wonderful holiday break!
Mrs Sandra Holland

LIBRARY
This has been an exciting year - we have had fun in the library with everything from Book Fairs, Book Week and lots and lots of reading. But reading can not stop over the holiday break.
The public library is a great source of books, but also little free libraries around the community. The Port Adelaide Enfield council has a school holidays program, but it is not released until 2 weeks before the break. Visit their website or Facebook page to find out more.
https://www.cityofpae.sa.gov.au/explore/libraries/programs-and-events
Friends and family can share their books with you. Please read anything over the break. By reading you will increase your reading ability and broaden your knowledge.
Next year I plan to invite the parents into the library for events. I will keep you posted when events happen. We always welcome volunteers in the library - come talk to me if you are interested.
See you all in the library next year..
ALL books due by the end of the year on the 14th of December 2022.
Mrs Lisa Preston
Librarian
ART CLUB
In the Art Club, students have enjoyed creating art with pastel, exploring paint pouring and creating their own soap. It has been a great year. Thank you for supporting the Arts. Have a safe and restful holiday!
Mrs Jocelyn Mungall

YEAR 1
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
And so the year has come to an end. We are tired but we are excited. We are happy but we are overwhelmed. I would like to reflect on the wonderful adventures that we have had over the last two years together. So many beautiful memories, amazing learning and so much persistence. Our end of the year concert was the cherry on the top, proving that as Year 1’s, we can achieve anything.
Thank you parents for all your effort, support and dedication over the last two years. It has been a ture pleasure working with you and being able to work as a team with you.
Your children have grown so much socially, emotionally and academically. They definitely deserve lots of hugs for all their efforts. I could have not done it without your support. I would like to wish each and every one of you, all the very best for the remainder of the year. Please have a restful break and best wishes for Year 2, my special Year 1 students. I am very proud of you!
Kind regards,
Ms Victoria Mackowiak

YEAR 2
It has come all too soon, but the end of the academic year is here. Term 4 saw the Year 2 class enjoy a wonderful excursion to Para Wirra National Park. We looked for animal habitats on a short hike, played in the nature playground and experienced native Australian animals up close and personal! Students also enjoyed performing our 50s themed dance for the end of year concert and I couldn’t have been more proud.
I hope that you all enjoy the holiday break and enjoy some quality time together. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of my wonderful students and parents for giving me the two best years of teaching in my career so far.
To my hard-working and absolutely amazing students: you blew me away every day with your tremendous effort and enjoyment for learning. Thank you for making every day so much fun and rewarding. And finally to my wonderful parents: you are incredibly generous and kind-hearted. Thank you for being so invested in your children’s education and your steadfast support. I will miss you all!

YEAR 3
Dear Parents,
The students did such an incredible job with their performance at the end of year concert. They worked so hard in the lead up to the big night and absolutely nailed their dance routine. A huge congratulations to all of our award winners for year 3: Amr, Anaya, Aaizah, Nadia and Noh.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my year 3 students for being such an incredibly kind, vivacious and hardworking bunch. You all continue to surprise me with your academic growth, positive attitudes and willingness to learn. I am so proud of all you have achieved. Thank you for being the best you could be, each and every day this year. I am going to miss you all so much!
I also extend my sincere thanks to the parents, for your ongoing support and tireless efforts this year with your child’s learning, especially in preparation for their first NAPLAN tests. You have all done such a wonderful job in raising such respectful, kind and hardworking kids. I feel extremely privileged to have worked with you and your child this year.
Although I will be at the Golden Grove campus teaching year 3 next year, you may see me around Gilles Plains in my new role as Inclusive Education Coordinator.

Kind regards,
Mrs Kerry Sangermano

YEAR 4
Dear Parents,
What a year this has been! The students have learned so much and deserve a pat on their backs. We completed the year with a trip to the Monarto Zoo which was an amazing trip. Students learned about the animals and their habitat. It was amazing when we saw the giraffes up close.
I am also proud of the students and their dance at the End of the Year concert. They put in all the effort and it was really spectacular. Congratulations also go to Afeef, Alisha, Manha and Imran for winning awards for their efforts this year.
This will be my last year at Pinnacle College. I want to thank you for your support throughout the year. Have a safe and happy holidays.

We now look forward to our Graduation Ceremony and saying goodbye to some amazing young people.

RELIGIOUS VALUES
Dear Parents,
We had a productive year, in term 4, our focus was our values and good manners. We covered topics such as honesty, co-operation, cleanliness, being helpful, patience etc. We discussed some of the ways to achieve these values and how we can implement them to our lives.

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته
As we approach the end of the year, we reflect on our students that recently finished their assessments and testing, demonstrating all what they have learnt and how well they can apply it.
It was wonderful to see how much fun year 4 and 5 had practising the EOYC and how well they did.
Year 2 and 3 students studied question words and punctuation in Arabic, while Year 1 students studied short and long vowels. Finally, I'd like to wish everyone a wonderful holiday break.
